A Gentle Invitation to Begin (or Deepen) Your Meditation Practice
This 6-week meditation course is designed to help you build a calm, steady and sustainable meditation practice – whether you’re completely new to meditation or returning after a break.
Across six sessions we’ll explore a range of simple, time-tested techniques and give you the structure, support and encouragement you need to weave meditation into your daily life in a way that feels realistic and nourishing.
You’re welcome to attend in person at Yoga Wise Studio, join live via Zoom, or catch up with the class replay each week.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is for you if:
- You’d like to start meditating but don’t know where to begin
- You’ve tried meditation apps but struggle to stay consistent
- You’d like support, structure and accountability
- You already meditate but want to deepen or refresh your practice
- You’re looking for gentle tools to support anxiety, overwhelm or poor sleep
- You enjoy learning in a small, kind, community setting
No previous experience is needed. You will not be asked to sit for hours – just 5–10 minutes a day is enough to begin.
What We’ll Explore Together
Across the 6 weeks you’ll be introduced to a variety of meditation methods so you can discover what truly resonates with you.
Some of the practices we’ll explore include:
- Mindfulness of Breathing
Using the breath as a tool to steady and anchor the mind. - Antar Mouna
Inner Silence - Heart Coherence
Connectiong to the heartspace - Japa Mantra (with or without a mala)
Using a Mala as a tactile support for concentration. - Loving-Kindness (Metta Bhavana)
Cultivating warmth, compassion and friendliness towards yourself and others.
We’ll also explore:
- How to set up comfortably for practice
- Different seating options (chair, cushion, stool, etc.)
- How to work with common obstacles (restlessness, sleepiness, busy mind)
- How to build a realistic home practice that fits into your life
By the end of the course, you’ll have a toolkit of practices and a clearer sense of which approach suits you best.
How the Course Works
Each session will include:
- A guided meditation practice
- Gentle teachings on a specific theme or technique
- Time for reflection, sharing and questions
- Suggestions for home practice for the coming week
The first session (26 January) will be a 90-minute introductory session to give you a spacious foundation. The remaining five sessions will be 60 minutes.
Attend In Studio, Online or via Replay
We’ve designed this course to be as flexible and accessible as possible.
You can:
- Attend in person at Yoga Wise Studio
- Join live via Zoom from home
- Catch up with the weekly replay if you can’t attend live
Every student, regardless of how they attend, will receive:
- The full class video replay each week
- A separate audio recording of the core meditation for the week (easy to use at home without video)
- Any handouts or written resources
This means you can still fully participate even if you miss a live session.

Everyone pays the same fee, regardless of how they attend.
What to Bring
If you’re attending in person:
- A notebook and pen
- A comfortable layer or shawl
- Water or a warm drink
- Optional: your own meditation cushion or stool
(The studio is fully equipped with mats, cushions and bolsters if you prefer to use ours.)
If you’re attending from home:
- A quiet, comfortable space
- A chair, cushion or blankets to sit on
- Headphones if you find them helpful
- Your notebook and pen
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any previous experience?
No. This course is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience who want to refresh or deepen their practice.
What if I can’t attend every week?
Don’t worry. You will receive the class replay and audio meditation each week, so you can catch up and stay connected with the group.
How long do I need to meditate each day?
You’ll be encouraged to practise for 5–10 minutes a day to begin with. You can extend this if and when it feels right.
Is this course suitable if I’m feeling anxious or overwhelmed?
Yes, very much so. We’ll work gently and steadily, and you’ll be encouraged to listen to your own pace and capacity. If you have any specific concerns, you’re welcome to contact Emma before the course starts.
